Need some wiring help....
On my 71 truck, I replaced both brake lights and flasher box. I cant figure out why one works and other doesnt. My drivers side turn signals, brake lights and parking lights all work. My parking lights work on Pass side, but no turn signal or brake light. I swapped bulbs and still same thing, so Its not a bad bulb. I have checked all the wiring around the bed its all fine. Could someone fill me in on how or what this could be if you have had the same problems, TIA - Jason

could be a wire in the steering column or a bad turn signal switch.

http://www.geocities.com/chevroletc1070/taillghts.html Go here for wiring layout. Double check the socket outlet, could have a bad spot if the other bulbs aren`t working in it. Then back trac the wiring bed-column. Sometimes it`s just the socket harness.

Jason, I had a similar problem right after I purchased my 72'. With the brakes applied and the right turn signal initiated, my left rear brake light would shut off while the right rear light still flashed for the turn signal. After swapping bulbs and checking the wiring and connectors, it all pointed to the turn signal switch in the steering column. Once the switch was replaced all was back to normal.

Have to go along with the possible ground.....scrape things or a little sanding to get better ground..........

Not a ground, the parkign light works off the same ground. If the added amprage (which needs better grounds) was a probelm, the parking light would go out and (most likely) not come back on untill the assembly was fiddled with.
It is possable....but not very likely. I'd investigate the turn signal switch. Try wiggling the lever and even tugging on the harnss where it goes into the column as some one watches the light. |
