dually hub caps

Ok, here goes, i know they make simulators and i know i can use just the center part that covers the lug nuts and all. But that is not the look I am shooting for. What I am wondering is, is there anybody out there that makes just a cap that covers just the center on the front wheel and would go over the hub on the rear? I have a '74 crew cab dually that i want to run these and rings on with black rims. Kinda a hot rod look but with the dually rims.

Thanks for any info,
Loren

Re: dually hub caps

I would like to know as well, My wheels are getting powder coated soon. I have a 4x4 though, so all I need is the cap that covers the rear hub. I haven't seen but one other dually with black wheels stainless trim rings and I don't remember what they used for center caps.

Re: dually hub caps

you can use the centercaps off of the 01 up trucks with the trim rings and they look good.you'll have to get the proper lug nuts for the caps with the external threads tho.

Re: dually hub caps

surely there is a chrome or stainless cover that just fits the center hub that goes behind the wheel for duallies.

Re: dually hub caps

Will the center caps out of these rear wheels work for what we are looking for? If so, were can they be bought?

Re: dually hub caps

if i can find some, i would try to see if they would fit. My thought is to see they would fit between the rim and the lug nut ring (the ring on the outside), not sure if that would slide through the hole thou. I do know of a couple of buddies here that work at machine shops and thought about seeing if the could build something,

Re: dually hub caps

does anyone know for sure if these caps will fit an 87 4x4 dually? Just over the rear hubs. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MT...ressure+Gauges

Re: dually hub caps

The eagle one dually wheel center caps might be what your looking for the lug nuts go on the outside the cap to where it locks the cap to the wheel using the lug nuts them selves.

Heres some pictures:

Front:

Rear:

I bought these from summit there not to cheap though, I think all 4 cost me a $100

Re: dually hub caps

do you happen to have a picture of those on the wheels, with the wheels on the truck. Would those go on behind the wheel? My wheels are black with stainless trim rings, so I don't want to overdo it, but I do want to cover the rust colored hub.

Re: dually hub caps

I have never seen any that go behind the wheels which is one of my biggest complaints about after market wheels for duallies because they always look like someone put them on the wrong side, which is one of the main reasons I prefer to use the late model center caps.

Re: dually hub caps

Just an idea: But if you could find/buy just the center collar that bolts to the rim and the center cap that snaps on to it as in this picture, this could be an option if all you want to do is cover the hub less a full simulator cover.

Actually this could be done for all 4 wheels.

Re: dually hub caps

That is really bigger than what I want. Surely there is a cap that will slide on behind the wheel and cover the hub. Small chrome and clean.

Re: dually hub caps

I kind of misread what exactly you are looking for. Sorry 'bout that.

What you apparently want is basically a trailer hub cover if I read this right? Might try checking someplace that sells trailers. I have seen a variety of versions of chrome hub covers, all on trailers, that slip through the rim and when the rim is tightened, the hub cover is too.

Is this similar?

Good luck on the search!

that is what i did for time being, but still looking for just the hub covers.

rjn72: i did exactly what you did, painted rims glossy black, trim ring and i'm using just the centers of the simulators for time being. will get a couple pictures posted tomorrow so you get a idea. the rear looks good but i don't like the front (TOO BIG).

Re: dually hub caps

I think the reason the push thru covers are hard to come up with is because I think the wheels are hub centric, meaning the wheel center has a close fit to the hub itself, so I dont thing there is room for a cap between the hub and the wheel. Im not sure of that, but if memory serves me correctly, I believe thats the way it is on my dually

Re: dually hub caps

that is correct rare86. but like on semi's, they have just a cap that pushes on. the one another note, i know on mine, i have a ring that the lug nuts cinch down on and if i can find ones that will slide through that ring, even with minor trimming, that would work also.

i do have a couple buddies that work in machine shops and they want to try and build me what i'm looking for. if they turn something out, i will let you guys know.

Re: dually hub caps

I forgot all about the ring. Id pull that ring off and go down to your local tire dealer, and see if there is a push thru for it.

Re: dually hub caps

already have !!!!! nothing yet and the ones i have found would need to much grounded out of the middle of the ring that it would be worthless after.
