Softening a 66 k10 suspension
My 66 k10 feels like they welded the axles directly to the frame. Could I soften it up a bit by removing some of the leaf springs? Just from the front probably.

replace rubber bushings with greasable urethane from off road design. it will free it up to where you may need stiffer shocks

Re: Softening a 66 k10 suspension
These older trucks didn't have rubber bushings in the leaf spring eyes. They had greaseable steel bushings. You might try and grease those bushings, but chances are if they haven't been greased in a while they may not take any easily. Sometimes it's just the grease zerk that's plugged

Is removing some of the leafs an option? any downside to it?

Re: Softening a 66 k10 suspension
I'm with you, 'Manny. I've got six leaves in front and six in the rear, and have made sure the bushings have grease and are free - ready to get some relief on these New England roads. Curious to know if there's an economical way to start.
btw - the Deaver springs video on their front page - too funny. Check out the girl's expression at about 2:10 in the vid. |
