69GMC on a 77K10 chassis?
Is it fairly easy to put a 69 C1500 GMC on a 77 K10 chassis? I would use new body mounts of course.

If you can weld and cut some it's not bad at all. Having something, someone that can help you lift is nice too. Lots of stuff here in the 4x4 forums about this.

My wife likes lifted trucks,plus we have been going camping lately and some of the trails are 4wd only. There is a 4wd rollling chassis on CL here, and I was thinking that I could bolt the 69GMC to the 77K10 4WD chassis.

It is not a bolt on swap. The frame may need shortened, mounts need to be relocated and bumper mounts need to be made.

I did this a few years ago, you can go to the link in my signature & look at the big purple truck. When you are done it will look like the truck has about a 3 or 4 inch body lift because the curve of the frames is very different.
If my memory is correct used one rubber pad between the rear of the cab & the frame, then put the front clip on & leveled it & the cab from there using the rear of the cab as our starting point. You'll end up with really tall front cab mounts & kinda tall radiator support mounts. Then we used pipe to make "lifts" for the bed & used longer bolts on it. Start with a level frame!!! You'll have a larger than normal bed - cab gap & you'll have to trim the front frame horns to make the bumper look right. Steering, clutch, etc was easy. |
