All the LSx swaps have me wondering: anyone have a square 4x4 with a LSx?

Well as some of you may know, I recently aquired a '87 K2500 GMC. A freind of mine has a '99 5.3 with supposedly 40k out of a rollover (it's been sitting in his shop for several years. Complete with all acc. & harness.

I'm wondering if the swap is as straight foward as the 2wd swap. I would probably just keep the TH400 setup that's in the truck and just run the flexplate & adaptor.

I did a search & I looked through the 4x4 section & 4x4 build section and didn't see anything (unless I missed it).

Just another option to consider

I think that the pumpkins are on the wrong side to use the late transfer case. other than that it should be no sweat if you use the early trans and case. Jay

Check the 67-72 section. I have heard something about some sort of crossmember clearance issue with those years. Not sure exactly what, but it didn't sound like anything major. I'm probably going to do a 4.8L in my 70 K10 sometime in the near future.

Just need to find your self a NP241 out of a 90 or 91 burb or blazer with a VSS and your golden

If you find a 241 that was behind a 700r4 you can use the 4L60E if you find one that was behind the 4spd manual you can use the 4L80E. I know of the 60E you need to retain the 99 and up t-case adapter, not sure on the 80E.

I'm in the early stages of doing this to an 83 K20
