Power steering return hose

I started putting in my power steering this weekend and ran into one issue so far. The return hose I got from the local parts store is just a cut to lenght power steering hose. He also sold me a 3/8 fitting to put in the return line on the gear box, when I looked at the fitting it looked a regular pipe fitting, not a flare fitting like the pressure side. I tried to start it just to see, and it's no good. I ran back to the parts store and he said that is what his system says to sell. Checked a couple more places and they said the same thing. Does anyone know where I can find the correct fitting? Here are some pics.

That is an inverted flare fitting like on the pressure side.

Do you know where I can find a fitting for it, none of the parts places have an actual return hose, only a peice cut with some hose clamps.

Id try some conversion fittings from Napa. They have a lot of fittings behind the counter they might be able to convert it over. Make sure its the right fitting though, does it look like the pressure side? The pic is kinda blurry, but Im pretty sure it is.

The other option is just to get a hard line and flare it, then attach a hose to it.

Sorry the pic is kind of blurry, it does look just like the pressure side. I will check Napa tomorrow. I don't have a flaring tool so I hope I can find a fitting. Thanks for the help.

Thats what i did, i went serpentine system off a 94 suburban so the line had to fit that pump and the other side needed to fit 72 gearbox. they rent you the flare tool and 100% refund when you return it

So if i go that route what all would I need? I still need a male fitting going into the gearbox, so a male fitting that has tubing through it? Seems simple enough, just can't picture it right now.

Get a 3/8 x 12 in. brake line and cut and bend what you need

Ok, I will try that. After I hit submit I realized I just needed the tubing and fitting just like the pressure side just 3/8. Thanks for all the help guys, I'll let you know how it turns out!

Yes, personally i went to Oriellys but NAPA has already been suggested, They have a cabinet full of plastic drawers containing however many different types of fittings, you need same thread pitch male fitting with a hole thru it same diameter as the hose you have already. hack off the existing fitting that does not fit, slip on the new fitting that does, use their flare tool and apply the pre determined correct flare to the new end of the hose. install on truck and done.

If you build it... you just need a fuel/brake hard line 3/8" and a tube nut for an inverted flare. Try and double flare it if you can.

X2, I often do this for fuel and power steering lines I need. Yhey come with two nuts installed already and you can just cut and bend as needed.
