4.5 / 5 drop
my 68 short step is tore apart would like opinions. i bought 2-4 drop springs then purchaced 2 1/2 spindles 2+2.5= 4 1/2 front would puting lowering blocks in rear say 1" look ok? i am not crazy about using to big of blocks. scrub issues.
also money now is huge issue. (wife left me with my house pmnt and my truck GOOD BYE) should i sell my parts 6 lug rotors, spindles calipers prop vavle. and just put springs in and fix drum brakes to get it on road. cant really afford all new ball joints ends and bearings. (spindles are for 72) basicly question is...is 4 1/2 front too low with 4" rear springs? if not will 1" block level it out enough? will front crossmember be too low at 4.5? the wheels i have are aluminum with 265 70 15 tires. |

Re: 4.5 / 5 drop
I am not sure if i will answer any questions but, i lowered my '72 with 2.5 spindles & 2" springs in the front along with just 5" springs in the back & i feel the truck rides good. i might say it is just a tad "bouncy" in the back though. overall i think it rides very good. i have not had any issues with anything not fitting or any adjustment not being able to be held because of the lowering......
hope this helps & good luck! |

Re: 4.5 / 5 drop
i am running 245/60/16 all the way around ( i am not thrilled with the front tire size, got talked into it) . i have not measured, but guessing is roughly 4" (trans. x-mbr to ground). the truck has a rake to it... which is what i was looking for - i would say about a 2" difference.
how close? are you to appleton? i have a friend there...... |

Re: 4.5 / 5 drop
i am in Bangor about 20 miles from wi west coast. appleton is 3 hrs from here. i would like a little rake. just trying to figure if i should leave stance alone. sell parts to fund fender rad distrubutor. paint it and drive it or put the parts in as inexpensively as possible. gonna try posting a couple pics.

Re: 4.5 / 5 drop
I first lowered mine 3.5/4 and was never happy with it. It looked like a stink bug ready to jump to me.
I later swapped in 5" springs with the ECE Super Track Bar kit.
