I made this BBQ last weekend. It's from an old air compressor and scrap iron. It works great. Just the ticket for car shows and tailgate parties. As you can tell I'm also into old Internationals but you could put a Bowtie on it just as easy. Don't throw away that old compressor!

I made the top so it will lock open in any position. The intake and exhaust is 3" automotive type. The exhaust is controlled by a butterfly valve. I can control the heat very well this way. The compressor tank is made from very thick material, should last me a life time.

I'm in the process of making something similar (bigger and on a trailer). Can you show me how you lock the lid at any position?

After alot of thought this is what I came up with. A post with a bunch of holes and a screwdriver with the tip cut off. Works great. The very top hole is where I store the screwdriver when the lid is shut.

international ...huh, when are you going to harvester any meat off that.... corny but I had to say it.
mine is a smoker made out of a steel 18 wheeler fuel tank, with a stainless steel exhaust stack for the pipe, the woodbox hangs off the lower left side with an oven above for keeping thing warm, or potatos corn bread whatever, and Ive found the easiest way to get the fire started is to stick the torch in it for a few minutes...lol
