Re: whitened some tires this weekend

You can actually sand down white letter tires and make them white walls, a few guys here have done it.

Re: whitened some tires this weekend

I remember doing research on real white wall paint and I believe there is a good one being sold on Ebay and I remember some foreign dude, like in England and Germany, was making a real good white wall paint. I think he used it on an old Vespa/scooter.

Re: whitened some tires this weekend

The whites are still holding up. They get dirty easy and don't look nearly as good as when they were first painted, but it's safe to say that it works using the vinyl paint. I still want to sand down the letters to make them smooth wide whites. It's funny how many people come up and ask where i got them and how much. People with a closer eye notice they're painted and usually remember doing similar jobs back in the day. People recognize the truck because of the huge wide whites. I'll post up some update pics by this weekend.

Re: whitened some tires this weekend

Wow, time to bring this thread back to life. It's been about 9 months since the last time i posted on this thread. I've resprayed and touched up the tires a few times since the start. They are still holding up but are kind of dull. I actually wish they would've yellowed, it would've looked cool. I'll snap a couple pics in a few days. Things have gotten hectic so the truck is again my daily driver. I still haven't gotten around to sanding down the letters but it's a cheap way to have wide whites as long as you stay away from curb checks.
