Polly bushing's squeek

Last year I put in a set of polly bushings in my A-arms and just the other day they started squeeking, every stinking bump, squeek, squeek, squeek, well you get the picture. Is there a good fix for this other than just spraying something all over them that will collect dust and grime?

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

I dont think the metal is thick enough to add a zerk, and I'm not to keen on replacing the bushings, I thought the bushings that I got were suppose to be "Squeek Free". I have done alot of work to this truck and really am getting burnt out on it.

For what it's worth, I have poly-graphite bushings on my Honda, and even with a liberal application of chassis grease when installed, they still squeak quite a bit.

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

When we install them we use Teflon grease but even that will go away eventually but it does last a while

Turn the stereo volume up a little more!
Seriously, when I replaced mine, they squeeked for a while. But, eventually, they quit squeeking. Unless you take them back apart and coat them with some sort of grease, you'll probably have to live with it for a little while.

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

i used poly control arm bushings on a pathfinder i had and they squeaked until the day i sold it...and likely still are but at least i don't have to listen to it anymore. I always cranked up the tunes.

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

LOL, that is proabably the only reason I heard the squeek, I had the radio turned down the other day and that was when I heard it for the first time.

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

Every bushing in my truck is poly, front control arms, sway bar, rear trailing arms, even cab mounts. It is awful. The squeaking and harshness completely remove all enjoyment of driving the truck. Take my advise everyone, go rubber.

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

I re-did all the bushings in my Corvette with poly. It handles better, rides about the same..... And squeaks..... going on 15,000 miles now.

i wondered about this when looking through your build thread, since i had read some other posts about the poly/rubber debate...my suspension overhaul will be very similar to yours...from reading a few other posts, i had already planned to go rubber when i change everything to 5-lug, but it's great to have your advice!

Re: Polly bushing's squeek

One temporary fix would be to go to NAPA (it's not sold at Advance or Auto Zone type places) and buy Ru-Glyde. Spray it on your bushings every couple weeks or so. It won't collect dust, and it's a rubber/poly lube.
