front tire/fender clearance

I just got a '64, and it has 5" between the top of the tire and the fender. My '63 has maybe 3 1/2. Which is correct? Same tires on both trucks, both 6cly., 1/2T long beds. I was going to drop the '64 by cutting the springs 1 1/2 coil in front, may not be enough.

One could be sagging more that the other, I would only cut one full coil in the front, anymore than that you start bottoming out on the stops.
