Re: OMG i just priced interior

For reference, here is what I think I will spend on my interior:

$250 seat rebuild and OEM fabric recover
$140 carpet and pad installed
$ 55 headliner
$100 dash pad plastic cap

$545 Total

For the door panels, I used the dull side of a dinner knife to scrape off the crud and scratches, then wet sanded them, then rubbed 303 protectant on them. This removed the factory vinyl texture so they are now smooth, but they are clean and don't look bad for a $0 fix. I still need to do something with the door pulls and trim panels. For a work truck, this is OK with me. Here are some pics of the panels:

not even close around here...I run an auto upholstery shop, so take it from someone who's been there done that...this is around what it would cost in my neck of the woods...

Headliner .................. $95
Visors ...................... $45
Headliner trim dyed .... $100 including kick panels
Dash Coverlay ........... $195 dyed and installed
Bench Seat ............... $450-550 covered in vinyl-cloth including minor seat foam work, if more is required, it could run another $50
Carpet ...................... $375 installed
Carpet on lower doors $190 for the pair
Door panels................ $300 cleaned, dyed and insert recovered to match bench seat surface material

Total ........................$1750-1900

if you'd like to have your dash covered in vinyl instead of a Dash Coverlay, we would do that for $450

Mind you, those prices include labor out the door...meaning, you bring us the truck you pay that price plus tax on materials and you get the truck back right...we do all the work, you do nothing...the prices that you quoted are at or below my cost on the materials alone...so there's no way an upholstery shop is going to touch anything for that price...

Re: OMG i just priced interior

A one man very small shop in Tucson, AZ - not a big upholstery shop.

Also, quality is good to my layman's eye, but likely not nearly as nice as your shop would do. Just driver, not show quality.

Seat and headliner have been completed at price stated, carpet is quoted installed price and to be done soon, dash cap will be self installed from online vendor.

Mine is a cheap example for those who want to fix up the run down interior of an old truck, not a factory finish. No offense meant to those who pursue higher/professional standards. Each to his or her own.

don't take me wrong, I wasn't trying to be a butt...just saying that those prices won't fly here for quality work...I'm glad you found a shop that's reasonable in price and that can satisfy your needs...that's good...alot of people look for a shop for a while and don't find that because they are scared to pull the trigger...interior is an expensive thing to pay for and not do any research on the shop you're having do the work...

also, just an edit...my shop is also a little two man show...and we are more inexpensive than larger neighboring cities...
