Re: what I found today.........
Square body cabs aren't exactly rare, at least not in my area. I don't think I would bother fixing that crap.

In Texas you could buy a complete rust free truck for the price of the replacement parts you will need to fix that. Find a rust free region that's close to you and buy another cab.

Re: what I found today.........
What is this hole??
But yeah, +1 on the bad body work subject. There is a '91 K5 a few houses down from me that is for sale and i been eyeballin it. but when i pulled in front of the house and got a quick look, the rocker was missing and someone screwed a piece of diamond plated steel onto it? too bad i don't know how to weld,... i WAS interested lol.

Re: what I found today.........
You need a cab swap buddy. For all the money you will spend on replacement panels and the time to install them a good used cab is the way to go.

Re: what I found today.........
I have a buddy that might be willing to part with a cab off of an 84' GMC Dually. It's been sitting in a field for a few years with one door on it but, seemed to be in pretty good shape the last time I was out there. You're in my area for the most part. I will keep my eye open for you. I run across a good deal from time to time.

[QUOTE=Chevy623;3980883]What is this hole??
thats is a hole made for the lake pipes that use to be on the truck.... if you look at the rocker you'll see a toggle bolt still there thats one thing that ate the rocker up.... i like the 70's front so I'm gonna keep the look nomatter what it takes and try to get it to the shape it was with or without this cab... if you look on my profile you'll see the crap that was on this thing in my pictures

Re: what I found today.........
When you gots rust and no welding skills, you does what you can with what you has. Fugly, fugly,fugly repairs. That cab appears to be toast, a trip to get a diffferent one is cost effective compared to the effort to fix that one. Let it go, it will make good scrap iron. Friends don't let friends drive Fords, but apparently they do pop rivet and slap Bondo. If you DO decide to fix that one, take it off the frame, invert it and start welding, you should be pretty good at MIG welding by the end of the first year.
