I finally got one!

It took me a little while but i finally got one. 1968 . I bought it for my daughter to drive when she is 16. That is about 1.5 years so it is mine until then. I will post more pics and details later! This has been a dream since i had to sell my 1971 when I was 17.

Nice truck. Your daughter would probably be better off in a smaller car that gets better mileage. Then you would, unfortunately, have to keep the truck for yourself.

Re: I finally got one!

I am not a mechanic so I am not certain of the motor and trans. I beleive i have a 1990 350 and 350 turbo trans. I think.

The truck is in pretty good shape. There is some cancer in the floor boards. Someone tried to replace the rocker panels at one time. Not a smooth success but it works. The paing job has a lot to be desired once you get close and start looking. Going down the road it looks good enough

The day I drove it home the passenger door came open when pulling out and I nearly dumped my daughter on the state highway. It wouldnt shift automatically, i had to do it manually and when I got home I had an oil leak. I adjusted the door latch or acutally loosened it up after it hadnt been used for a while. Now the door shuts fine. I replaced the modualtor valve and the transmission shifts like new now. And, I replaced the oil sending unit and the oil leak was fixed. I feel lucky and good about my purchase.

My plan for now is to get ahead of the cancer replace the dash and a new floor mat. Maybe add a radio. I have three kids, if it survives them all I will then have a new plan for it.

Re: I finally got one!

Don't forget new three point seat belts and new brakes/steering. Safety should always be first.
