68 50th Question

A friend of mine over here in Germany just got his 68 50th Anniversary C10 and he wanted to know how many were produced.

Does anybody have any such information?

Here are the pictures of what he bought. He sais when he is done it will be Ivory and Gold again.

Looks like a darn good truck and I see it has California black plates on it. I'm not sure there was production numbers on them but I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will chime in later...

Thatīs too bad. I thought they were a limited edition with only 500 produced or something like that.

Re: 68 50th Question

The 551 Gold-White is basically just another color combo that was offered in 1968, but the twist was you had to order the Custom or CST package. In other words, the 50th Annivesary color combo was not offered on standard models. This one year color came with a one year only color coordinated interior trim items that were not used with other colors. I would say many thousands of 1968 trucks were painted this color. Here is another one on ebay right now, a nice stock C 20 , sorry for no link, #290437180773. So, the 50 th Annivarsary color combo 551 is much more common than many on this site seem to think.

Re: 68 50th Question

Nice truck! I would be interested in purchasing those license plates from your friend if he does not plan on registering it in California again. They would look great on my truck here.
