Help: Upper and lower a-arm and spring removal
hey all....trying to get the front suspension components off to clean, derust, paint and install new springs....
i got the tie rod removed and the adjusting nut (had to split it) off the ball joint that connects the upper a-arm to the spindle but I cant, for the life of me, get the ball joint bolt to come loose from the spindle... Ive tried tons of PB blast, banging the s@#t out of it with a hammer, a crow bar and even tried to get my small jack in between the upper and lower a-arms to pop the bolt out...and nothing.....WTF!? besides cutting....anyone got any ideas? (i have pictures but i cant upload them yet cause im not on my computer) |

You obviously didn't cuss enough at it. I'd suggest heat. You'd be surprised what a few seconds (maybe a minute) with a torch on your offending part will make it succumb to your wishes.

I think I went to Auto Zone and rented a fork to get mine off. It's free.

hey daverod, are you talkin about a pickle fork?...they let you rent those for free huh? SWEET...i was just gonna go to harbor freight and pick up their tie rod/ball joint tool set (any experience with those?), but we have an auto zone right next to our fire house, so i'll definitely cruise over and see whats up....thanks!
