How do I get my truck going?

OK, I bought the truck for 500 and it doesnt run. I am not to sure what I should do. I was going to pull the starter see if it is good (tries to turn over but wont). If it is I could put it back on and see if she will crank. Since it wont turn over now I cant do a compression test, so I was thinking of doing a leak down test see if the cyliners hold pressure. If it is something pretty serious wrong, I can buy a used motor (good comp and everything) for 550 put that in and hopefully sell it for around 3000. What do you guys think, thanks for any help

I agree. Check to see if the carb is getting fuel and check the ignition system for trouble. It has to be one of those more than likely.

I assume that it hasn't been turned over in a while, because it won't crank.

Take the plugs out of it and squirt some easing oil in the cylinders and let it sit. Do it again the next day too.

Also, before you start it squirt some motor oil in the cylinders -- there won't be anything in there to lubricate the rings.

Once you get it cranking, don't forget to change the oil -- the easing oil won't do the engine any good, and there will probably be lots of cruddy bits of rust floating around in it when it gets moving again.

K, thanks guys. It tries to turn but just wont. had the boost pack hooked up when I tried. I will probably try and fill the cylinder with WD then some oil see if it will turn over at least once it sits for a bit.

Take out all the spark plugs first b4 you try and turn it over, if it cranks then you can start with the other three items

Well, here is what I did so far, Took all the plugs out and put oil in the cylinders, let it sit overnight. Went out today and it turn over with no plugs in (kinda slow, I think) put the plugs back in and it wont turn over. Tries to a little bit but mostly just clicks and wont go. What could I try next. Oh, I drained the oil and there was coolant in it. But I kinda just want to get it turning over itself.

Are you still trying to turn the motor over with a battery pack ? Might be why it turns slow. Use a real battery

If it turns over very slowly, then it's got to be a battery or starter wire problem. Without the plugs, it should just be whizzing around.

What do you have the charger set on ? If its one of those tiny cracker box chargers it may only triclke charge the battery. It would have to charge 10 hrs to fully charge a GOOD battery.

Talking

Well, thanks for the help guys. I pulled off the starter and some of the tip was busted off, so I put one in that I had sitting around, and she started right up. It is puffing white smoke, but I am pretty excited. I guess I will pull the heads and see if changing the gaskets will fix it. It runs so nice and smooth though. This truck is pretty mint, no rust at all underneath the truck, and has brand new dual exhaust
