need lowering info/help
i have a 68 c10 and i want to lower it all low as possible but i dont want air bags air ride or anything like that. I know there is kits out there like a 5/7 drop but i want to go even lower if its even possible. This is my first truck my first build so i dont really know it all and i would appreciate any help. Ive heard about cutting the crossmember down some inches so it raises it but does that only apply if your gonna bag it?
I have front suspension off a 76 c10 and the rear is stock from my 68. So can anyone help he out push me in the right direction...thanks. |

Re: need lowering info/help
Rear: 2 inch drop blocks with u bolts, C notch, dropped springs, super track bar, shock relocators...oh and you should keep an eye on the clearance of the driveline to the trailing arm crossmember.
Front: drop spindles, drop springs with a coil cut off and drop shocks. Not sure how driveable you want this thing. If you only want this thing to look cool in your driveway, just take all the springs out all together....I'm joking, don't do that. There's always the search on here with Hundreds upon Hundreds of pages of options and pictures. This is close to the most commonly asked question on the forum. |

I believe one of Porterbuilts crossmembers will work with a coilover shock/spring combo instead of the shockwave airbag. Thatd get you extremely low, still give you good suspension travel, and a good ride as well.

Re: need lowering info/help
can someone break down what "Z" ing your frame is?
Is it possible to c-notch the front end? I know some of you might think these questions are dumb but i just need to ask. You dont get answers by not asking. |

The front suspension swings from just under the frame rail at a 90 degreee angle from centerline so there isn't anywhere to put a notch that actualy buys you anything. Zing the frame raises the front part of the frame compared to the rest of the frame. When you raise the point where the suspension is attached you lower the truck. This is a fairly radical mod and isn't needed unless you are trying to drop the truck all the way to the ground.

scoti
what i guess im trying to say is can you go any lower with a drop kit? is there such a kit (5/7 drop) for the 67-72 c10? all i seem to find for the 5/7 drop is for the 73-87 im just trying to ride as low as possible without using bags. |

Re: need lowering info/help
A 5/7 drop on the 67-72 coil suspension is 3" spindles + 2" drop springs (or 1-coil cut from stock springs) up front & 2" blocks w/5" springs out back.
