63 C40 transmission

what kind of trans would be in a C40. all i know is that its a 4 speed

In a C40 it would likely still be a SM420.

The light-duty trucks (C10, C20, C30, K10 & K20) were commonly equipped with the SM420. The medium-duty were equipped with the SM420, but also, the SM465.

It should be a SM420. Reverse is left and down. The SM465 reverse is right and down. Both are good, reliable heavy duty boxes.

I thought the SM465 didn't come out until the '69 model year

68 - that's why the bellhousing center hole is larger from 68 on.

Oops that's right....I forgot that it was '68 and not '69. Thanks for correcting my mistake.
