To Swap or not to swap...
To swap, or not to swap, that is the question...
Ok guys, i'm asking for your opinion: I recently swapped my '72 LWB C10 to a short frame, turning the Long bed and frame into a trailer. Since i needed a rear end for both, i picked up a 6 lug rear, on the cheap, with the original intention of throwing it under the trailer, and moving the 5 lug under the SWB frame. Now after much consideration, i've come to a point where i need to make a decision: Is it worth the time and effort to remove the 5 lug from under the truck, where it's resided for almost 40 years, or do i just convert the 6 lug to 5 lug. whichever goes under the SWB will end up getting a full rebuild with 3:73 gears (will reside behind a 700r4)... Fire away

Re: To Swap or not to swap...
If it were me, I would rebuild the 6 lug with new bearings, seals, and 5 lug axles. Put a fresh coat of paint on it and slide it under the new SWB frame. After all these years, it might be time.
