Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

Hmmm, could have sworn I read a thread where a guy mounting his 18's had to machine his hub on the side AND the front, and then had to cut an 1/8" off the spindle. (1.25" rotor) If that's all I have to do is grind the hub and cut a little bit off the clips of the caps, I'll probably be getting the 18's for sure.

Do you know if I have to run a different caliper with a 1" rotor though?

With 60+ pages of posts about these wheels just between this thread and the other, it's easy to get confused.

Yeh, that's no joke! It's almost where what you can do and what you can't do are the same now!!

This is correct. With 1.25 rotor you will need to taper the front of the spindle to match the bore of the wheel plus run a small spacer to get the cap to fit or modify the cap. I have the -2 18's installed on my 67. I believe on the original post it is explained in great detail. You can cut the spindle to help with clearance for the cap but I choose not to cut the spindle and have a small spacer made to fit cap on.

Here is the link for the original post that talks about the issues with the -2 wheels. Mine played out exactly like this. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that clarification. When I replied previously I misread the question. I corrected my post accordingly.

Hellbent - I think sublvr has two sets of 18's for sale in the classified section ready to ship. Not sure of the spacing though. I guess I won't be the only one in the area with a set if you get some!

I've tried calling HID Solutions with no luck and no returned calls. I need to cancel my order and get my money back ASAP.

I hope I'm ahead of all y'all -- I'm the one who got this group buy started in the first place and I'm still waiting on my front rims.

Sorry, I had to take the afternoon off. Shoot me an email or PM, I can get to those a lot quicker than phone calls

Very nice! Latest word on my 20x8.5 chrome fronts is they're not even in production and no ETA. Should have gone with grey....
