Heater control valve

I have a 63 chevy truck and the heater control valve is gaked, leaks like a sive, are the after market vendors sellin g on that will work a or should i just buy a later core and leave the valve off??? The pic of the valve at LMC trucks is different looking but may be fine. I see that rock auto has one for 12 bucks, has anyone ever used it and how did it work? larry

Re: Heater control valve

I have had better results by deleting the factory valve and installing a manual valve either in one of the hoses or where the hose connects to the engine. These valves are available set up for cable operation and can be hooked up to your stock heater control. I have never had one of these manual valves leak.

Re: Heater control valve

Or just go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a brass ball valve with the ends for hose. Only thing, you'll have to pop the hood to open/close it. But, it'll last forever and won't leak.
