Unusual Air Cleaner??

after looking at many of these old truck for parts, ideas, rarities, etc. I have noticed that I've not seen many factory snorkel air cleaners without the heater flap and the stove pipe like I have on my '69. this is a Fremont truck that was shipped to Wyoming for delivery to the customer. (it was also fitted with the California smog a.i.r. system when new if that makes a difference.)

surely you would think if a truck is to be delivered to the Northern states, it would have the carb heater setup? oh, it did have a dealer installed block heater though.

unusual or not?

Re: Unusual Air Cleaner??

I know the dual snorkel cleaners would be found on the higher performance engines of the time. haven't heard of aluminum though...

Re: Unusual Air Cleaner??

I think I counted about 16 different air cleaner options in 1968! I have had only 3/4 and 1 ton '68 trucks and both models are like the one on your truck...no heat stove and no snorkel. The 1/2 ton trucks from CA had the air pump/snorkel/stove etc. The C20 and C30 did not qualify for air pollution controls...yipee! Scratch the paint off the ac lid and you find that it is chrome under that black paint too!
