True enough there are some differnces such as small back window in 67 cab ., but big back window was an option in 67,

67-70 cab used a different type gas tank, then a 71-72 as a 71-72 cab has a vent tube in the cab for a charcoal canister under the hood.... also 71 - 72 cab has vent holes in the door frame near the vin tag. 72 cab has no raised area for the rear view mirror.

Just a few differences I've noted, there are more but these listed are easy tell tale signs of a cab swap. Mind you some cab differences were carried over into the new year production.

I know that the big block and 4x4 trucks have the bolt in large hump floor. My friends 2wd Blazer with the factory granny geared 4 speed also has the bolt in hump. Do all the trucks with the 4 speed option have the big hump and what about the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks? All of them have the big hump floorpan?

i found another difference.

when removing my 72 cab and replacing with a 71 cab i notced the 71 cab hung down lower in those two little parts tha run down parallel to the frame rails, hard to describe what im talking about but i noticed this since the guy who installed the th350 in my truck ghetto rigged the shifter linkage, their was a bolt sticking up through the frame rail that was holding it together, on my 72 cab it cleared this bolt, on the 71 cab it did not clear.

also not sure if anyone mentioned above,

72 is first year for rear view mirror mounting on the glass

The firewalls are different from 67-68 to 69-72's, also 72's have the screw in the door

Also dont know what year they started (I have a 67 small window) but some have a cargo light (?) on the back of the cab above the rear window.

69 was the first year for the cargo light.
the high hump floors came in all 4 speed, all 4X4, all big block, and V-6 trucks, and blazer/suburbans.

The 72 2wd Blazer I just sold to a board member was a V8 turbo350 truck and it had the small hump floor. A friend of mine just bought a 2wd 72 Blazer with the granny geared 4 speed option and it has the big hump. The Blazers must have been just like the trucks as far as what transmission or if or if not it was a 4x4 as to whether it had the small hump floor or the big one.

Yeah, I ment blazers/suburbans equipped with 4X4, big block or 4 speed.
I am now wondering about the V-6 cabs having high hups though....
My 69 GMC was a 305/Th400 originally. I thas a high hump floor, and is original. (still has original paint)
There is a 69 Longhorn (GMC) with a 305 and a TH400 on e-bay right now....low hump.
Interesting.

One difference not mentioned is the throttle linkage. On 71/72 cabs, it's designed for the cable linkage. On 67-70, the linkage is a rod setup. Where the bracket for the pedal bolts is different and the 71/72 cab has a hole for the cable linkage not on pre-71 cabs.

I forget which years have what but the early models have a hand operated e-brake, later models use a foot operated e-brake.

In '71 and '72, the drivers side door jamb got a black plastic vent that was not in there in 70 or earlier.

Question

Thanks longhornmail, i figured it was somewhere around there.
jay-dawg,
I'm doing the opposite, I'm putting a foot e-brake assembly into a 68 cab. The basic thing in my way is the fuse panel and junction box. In your case it may be less trouble.

I cant see why you could not just turn the fuse panel to an upward position like the 69-72 panel... should work. but you'll have some firewall insulation issues to work at.
