Re: K30

1977 was the first year for the K30.

1992 was the first year for IFS on K3500 trucks.

Sady, it's been down hill from there.

'77 first year of K30. IFS showed up on '88 1 ton trucks, but they continued making squares of some models through '91.

Re: K30

IFS showed up on the SRW 3500's in 1988. Any DRW truck was a square body from 1988-1991.

You’re correct. My dad even bought a new 1989 GMC K3500 SRW new body style truck with a 7.4L and SM465. I forgot all about the SRW rigs.

Re: K30

From 1988 to 1991 the square type 4x4's were called "V" The "K" was for the newer type. GM still made the older type truck untill they came out with a straight frame rail type that would take aftermarked bodies

Re: K30

The`88s came out in`87 so the V designate began in`87.I always hated that. The traditional truck that didn`t change got a name change.I still refer to my`91 Buburban as a K2500 because I`m a stubborn ass. Hey,there isn`t another one to confuse it with, right?

IFS showed up then, but id had nothing to do with srw/drw

Correct, but sounds a little confusing.

Blazers, Burbs, and crew cabs were solid axle thru '91. Put simply, if it was a 1ton and had a second pair of doors, it was not IFS regardless of DRW/SRW.

Cab&chassis trucks seem to be anyone's guess. That's the first I've heard it was through '89, but I'm sure you're right.

Re: K30

They first made 4x4 1 tons in 1977, then in 1988 the regular cab and extended cab duallys were ifs, but the crew cab duallys were still the old body style with a sfa until 1991. After 91 everything is ifs, but yes its been downhill from there.

Re: K30

Well I stood corrected. You're right, probabaly not many around. But Mattman is right too. This whole mess is really for the crew cab trucks retaining the old body until after 1991. Has anyone seen an old body style 1992 suburban? My brother just purchased one for parts.

Nope, but I wouldn't doubt it. Do you know when the actual build date was?

I'll have to look again, but I think it was in July. I kept arguing with the guy until he showed me the title and the tag.
