Re: hotrods to hell
They offer decent 'kits' but the truck kit is not worth the cost since these trucks already came w/truck arms. The adjustable height spring seats aren't necessary for these trucks. The adjustable Panhard bar is desired but last I checked, they didn't sell partial kits; all or nothing.

Do you want to go low, or go fast? If you want to go fast, are you talking about straight-line fast or sticking-to-the-road fast? How much do you care about aesthetics? (do you want tubular or do you mind if it looks like stock) Last edited by JEM; 06-04-2010 at 04:37 PM. |

Re: hotrods to hell
The CPP tubular trailng arms and crossmember are STRONG. The arms are made with 2" .25wall DOM tube (CNC bent) and plated with 3/16" laser cut steel. We weld more tube internally thru the U-bolt and spring mounts. The crossmember is laser cut 1/4" steel and formed on our CNC press brake.
We have a customer with a turbo diesel that makes over 1100hp and 1600lb/ft torque measured at the wheel. He drag races and pulls a fith wheel trailer. He went thru several modified OE arms before we hooked him up with ours Danny Nix CPP |

Re: hotrods to hell
There are a few guys on here running stock arms in the 9-10 sec 1/4 mile range (check out the racing and HP section). I just switched to a set of stock arms on my '83 (welded the seam). I am looking at 700 hp/700 lb-ft of torque (it's the torque that will break stuff anyway). If you have or find a good set of arms then I think you will be fine. Of course if you have the money to upgrade might as well. I do plan on upgrading to the CPP arms in the future, just spent too much already on my current setup.

Re: hotrods to hell
Here is a picture of some stock c20 arms I modified for the truck were building in the shop right now.
Just some info on them. They are stock c20 arms, we took them to get sand blasted, then I fully TIG welded the top and bottom seams, stich welded the top and bottom plates, and boxed in both sides with dimpled holes. Again all tig welded, then smoothed out. And were putting energy suspension polyeurothane bushings in them. Before: Blasted arms ready for welding: Starting to weld them up: Finished: Powder coated: Last edited by N2TRUX; 06-06-2010 at 12:55 AM. |
