Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

I would just order a set from one of the many board vendors.
They can be bought at your local GM dealer,... but are much cheaper elsewhere.

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

I have talked to a few but they are pricey. I didn't think these things would cost 60 bucks. the napa ones were only 18....but, add the 20 dollar drill bit and the time to drill them out and I might as well get the expensive ones lol

They are $7.00 each from ECE.
And that includes the nuts.

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

they adjusted it to 5 bucks so it was 33 total. I had the napa ones but they were way too big. these seem smaller, although I haven't measured them yet

If you bought the ones from ECE they will be the larger ones! At least mine were.

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

I got this info from a thread here awhile back.

A-Arm U-bolts from Napa.

NAPA part # 650-4065. They are 9/16 -12 . You will have to drill the hole, but I would rather have the heavier one's in mine so it wouldn't happen again!!

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

^^^ those are the ones i returned. the ece ones are a little bit bigger than stock by 1 size i think, so i went and got a 9/16 drill bit, that should be good to go. so in the end, i still have the drill out the holes lol

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

I don't think you can even get the smaller ones anymore from any automotive stores. They have all been upgraded to the bigger ones.

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

i think your right. i did have to drill the ones out from ece but it only took a few minutes. for some reason the ones from napa looked a lot bigger than these...not sure though

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

I know you have been trying to avoid drilling but....even the ones from GM are larger. After they are installed, you will be grateful, my brother had a 70 custom that one of these u bolts broke as he was driving home, nearly totolled him and the truck, the thicker ones should have been used from the beginning and using a used set is asking for failure.

Re: I need lower control arm u bolts!

ya, I'm glad they don't come smaller, the holes were not hard to drill out at all. I just did not want to because I had a hard time drilling the bag mounting holes for the rear. drill kept twisting on me and almost sprained my wrist more than once lol
