'72 c10 suspension upgrades

Looking for tips on suspension upgrades for better handling on my stock 1972 Chevy C10, 307, 4 speed manual, swb fleetside. I do not plan on carrying anything heavier than my 500 lbs motorcycle. Thanks.

I will assume that the truck posted in your profile is what your looking to improve. If that correct lets look at what you can do.

Lowering a trucks center of gravity always improves its ability to take a corner. A mild drop and the addition of a factory sway bar will show good bang per buck return on investment. I prefer to run dropped spindles in front and shackles in the rear of leaf spring trucks.

It looks like your tires are fairly new so I doubt you want to change them. If you would consider that option, a lower profile tire will have less flex, and diminish body roll. You don't have to run rubber band style 25 series tires to notice a difference. I have found that a 45 or 40 series tire will still give a good ride yet tighten the roll resistance up quit a bit.

Shocks are a another option to consider. That is huge and usually controversial subject, so I won't attempt to go there. Just know that at some point you should consider going to a premium quality shock and might consider something that is adjustable.

Questions?

Re: '72 c10 suspension upgrades

Thanks N2 TRUX,

I have a 1 1/4" front sway bar from a ton that I planned on installing and was considering 2 1/2" drop spindles and shorter spring for the back, from Early Classic. What length springs would you recommend for the rear? Would I need any other parts like shock relocating kit or a new adjustable panhard bar?
