Trans problen on 04 Yukon

I found this board yesterday after trying to reasearch the tranny issue I have with my wifes Yukon. Here it is and thanks for any help you can offer.

04 Yukon XL 118k miles never used for towing and without any warning the transmission quit meaning no forward or reverse. I did get it home but to do that I had to shut off the motor and then it would engage and shift through the gears but disengage after a short time. I did this 5 or 6 times to get it back home. The service engine light is not on and while the trans fluid is still full and pink it does have a slight burnt odor but no different smelling than my 06 GMC Sierra. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Trans problen on 04 Yukon

Change the filter and oil in transmission. My truck lost reverse chenged fluid and shifts better then ever with 170,000 miles. They say the inside of filter collapse and then no oil can get threw

Re: Trans problen on 04 Yukon

could be the filter but it Sounds like a bad torque converter. runs a few feet or more quits pulling turn off for a min go a little farther over and over.
