Rear seals are't that hard to replace. Paying the shop labor is gonna be a killer. A good buddy and a half case of beer and this job can be done in a day.
Also I would recommend one of the one piece pan gaskets made by Fel-pro. They are the cats behind, and are reuseable. Just make sure you get the proper thickness for the timing cover seal. I also agree on the valve cover gaskets. Many an oil leak on a Small Block Chevy has been diagnosed to a valve cover leak. Old Small Blocks are like Harleys... when they aren't leaking oil... it means they're out. Gary
