best way to run a gas tank?
i wanna take the tank out of the cab but i am kinda worried about using a fuel cell(the one im thinking of using is a 16 gal),the ones ive seen ran on these trucks hang down about half way over the rear end and i wanna run bags!!do you think this will be a prob.?will it sit on the tank when i lower it?would a blazer tank be a better bet?how low would a blazer tank hang down?what should i do?

Hey 440,
Try doing a search on fuel cells. This subject has been covered many times. I think a blazer tank hangs lower than most fuel cells. There are several guys here that are running bags and fuel cells w/out problems. I'm thinking XXL and JaySpot were using them? Anyway, like I said, try a search.....

I think a lot of the custom tanks, seem to hang lower than the blazer tanks, like Riveted1 said, try a search for tanks. I haven't done this yet myself, but I plan on using a blazer tank, which looks like it'd sit (stock height) just above (2-3"?) over the top line of the diff. Hopefully I can get around to it this weekend, I'll try to post pics if I do.

I used a summit aluminum cell and mounted it behind the rear end where the spare used to set. It is a 20 gallon tank.

cruzn, I would also be interested in more info on the 20 gal tank. I was going to use the 16 gal because I knew a lot of members had used it with out problem but a few more gal wouldn't be a bad idea if it doens't hang to low. Have most of you used poly tanks with the foam baffles any trouble with them? Thanks..Stroker

I am sending my Blazer tank back. and then I am buying a 20 gallon aluminum fule cell they cost $420 CDN. with baffles and no foam. I am going to fab up my own fule neck so that I can run a filler neck using 1 1/2 " filler tube. Size is 24 x 18 x 10 shouls not hang too far down.

If you find that whatever tank you use sets too low you could always take a page from the 4X4 bible and put a skid plate under it.That would take the danger of puncturing your tank out of the equation.
