Question 04 Cruise Control Problem

Hey Guys

I've got an 04 silverado with about 106,XXX miles on it. I got stuck in the mud over memorial day weekend while camping with some family. I wasn't really bumper deep in mud, just slick enough I couldn't get out of where I was at. Anyway ever since my cruise control hasn't worked. It is turned on and when I hit the button nothing happens. When I tap it fast the light will flicker a little bit, but still nothing. I read somewhere that if one of the brake lights are not working then the cruise will not work. Well I figured out that my 3rd brake light was not working, so I got that fixed and my cruise is still doing the same thing. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if you guys had any ideas on how to fix this. Thanks.

All help is appreciated.

Kevin

Re: 04 Cruise Control Problem

Just a guess, but check your brake light switch. This is what disengages the cruise when you hit the brake. I'm not sure of the operation of your individual switch, but it is somewhere to start. Does the speedo work correctly, is the cruise module in good shape/plugged in?

Re: 04 Cruise Control Problem

I forgot to mention that I already replaced the brake light switch. The one down on the brake pedal right? About the only other thing that I can think of is some weird fuse or the whole blinker switch deal.

Thank you though.

Re: 04 Cruise Control Problem

Hey guys, just thought I would let you know that the cruise started working today out of the blue. Not sure what the problem was. I did read somewhere how this happened to someone else one time after they got stuck in the mud.
