Newbie

Need some help. Didnt see a newbie thread so i thought i would ask it here. Bought 72. Had a mild build 350 in it and drove it around for 3 days after i bought it. was on the way to work that monday and kaaboom. She locked up. Had oil pressure when it was dieing. i have a 402 in the garage for it. 11:1, air-gap eddel intake. 566 lift cam stock heads with some work. holly 950 on top. I need some advice on someone that had put big block into a truck that came with a small block. Truck is all there for the most part. The best way would be to contact me. Im in northern Michigan

Re: Newbie

First, welcome to the board. This is a great place to get information and help

Yes, a big block can be put in a small block truck. My son put a 402 in his '72 that originally came with a 350/350 combo. We put a 454 in my '71 that originally had a 350 with a 4 speed with a granny low.

What transmission is now in the truck? Does the 402 have a flex plate or flywheel?

Danny

Re: Newbie

Welcome from Fremont ca. Yup yup yup, Yes it can be done my truck was originally a inline 6 and now I am running a 454BB. Best way to go would be since it is a 72 buy some 72 only Big Block motor mounts and towers Not cheap but it is the best way to go.. They are sold for around $250 & up and you can buy them from members here on the parts fourm. as for the transmission cross member if you have an auto tranny it can be moved in either direction and bolted in. I hope this helps.. It is very easy it can be done with help in as little as a day motor and tranny in positon.
