Re: Inline 250 - T3 Turbo - w/ Video
Taking the choke horn off is part of the blow thru mod. There are a few others that seal it up to allow it to accept boost. This is the best link on how to do it:
http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html it seems overwhelming at first, but its quite easy.

Re: Inline 250 - T3 Turbo - w/ Video
The engine rebuild has started. I was tired of oil shooting out of my oil pan caused by worn rings and blow by. I am going .030 over, turbo spec cam, stock internals, hogged out intake to accept holley 2bbl, HEI and these :
new old stock Forged TRW flat top pistons. hard to find item

Re: Inline 250 - T3 Turbo - w/ Video
here is an updated pic of the engine bay. I had the engine rebuilt with .030 over forged pistons, Lunati turbo spec cam, new internals. I hogged out the original intake to accept a 2bbl Holley. I will be adding a HEI unit. I am really excited to fire it up soon.

Re: Inline 250 - T3 Turbo - w/ Video
I finally got a chance get a short video of the turbo attached and a short idle / rev. It sounds so much after the engine rebuild.
enjoy!

Re: Inline 250 - T3 Turbo - w/ Video
It will be interesting to see how much boost it makes and what it puts out HP wise .... do you have a boost retard on it ? if so who's is it ? thanks

Re: Inline 250 - T3 Turbo - w/ Video
I am hoping that by running a DEI titanium heat shield over the turbine, and DEI titanium wrapping the down pipe and running a 3" downpipe with less turbine back pressure, in addition to the meth injection, I can limit the effects of heat soak. With the smaller down pipe and having extra exhaust piping setup under the hood like you do, and if you are already experiencing heat soak, you might want to run an intercooler. Also how many core radiator are you running? And did you check your setup with a wideband or plugs, because if your running too lean or too rich you can run way HOT. Since you have everything tore apart right now, I would also consider wrapping your up pipe and down pipe to help push the heat out the tailpipe.
And your 100% right about turning up the boost.... I suppose that's thats always a project for down the road... 4 core intercooler and 18-20lbs of boost.... ![]()

I am running the original radiator. When I say HOT, its is not overheat HOT, I took it out this summer (103 deg), was in stop and go traffic and it did fine. So, it runs at the right temp. It has never overheated. I am running a AEM wideband. My afr's are: cruise 14-16 and WOT 10-11. When I pull the plugs, it does not get good fuel distribution, I think mainly because of the intake setup. Two short runners and two long outside sweeps. Inner plugs burn correct, outside plugs burn rich. I have thought about running a turbo blanket, from some of the youtube vids, it really looks like it contains the heat! Good idea. Does the same concept work with wrapping the up/down-pipes?

The concept with wrapping the up/down pipes is the same as the blanket. Wrapping the up pipe maintains the volume of the hot exhaust and prevents cooling and decreasing volume before going through the turbo. Also by doing this it prevents excess heat from entering the engine bay. By wrapping the down pipe, you help to maintain exhaust velocity as it exits the the turbo and goes out the tail pipe. Again by wrapping and maintaining exhaust velocity you are minimizing the effects of heat soak in the engine bay by pushing it out the tail pipe.
