UV dye in the oil and a black light. Pull the flywheel cover. Clean it as good as you can add the dye, start it and watch for the leak. You'll probably want to do this after dark so you can see it with the black light.

If it leaks when idling and in neutral it is more than likely a place where there is oil pressure meaning a galley plug of cam plug or oil filter. If it only leaks when you drive it and not when you are idling in neutral, my bet would be the rear of the oil pan of the rear main seal.

Another option would be to get a oil priming tool, remove the distributor and have a friend prime it with a drill while you look for the leak with a black light.


How many miles on the motor?

My guess is it's coming out from where the dip stick tube goes into the block.
This is where mine was leaking...pouring from. Driving makes it blow it EVERYWHERE!

We found out that its a rebuilt motor when we did the rear mains seal and pan gasket because there was punch marks next to the bearing caps. The OD. was disconnected when i got it so i dunno how long that they disconnected it for but right now its a 233K

You may have an issue with positive crankcase pressure. How do you have the motor vented? Is there a stock air cleaner with a tube from the valve cover to the air cleaner? Do you have breathers in the valve covers? Is there a PCV valve?

I had a major oil leak in my boat recently. It was coming from the back of the motor just like your appears to be. It turned out to be a combination of a couple of things. 1) Cam plug was leaking on the back of the block. 2) I was building up positive pressure in the crankcase forcing oil out any place it would go.

I fixed it by 1) Replacing the cam plug 2) putting less restrictive breathers on the valve covers.

That is a major leak. I'd still start with an oil priming tool and some dye. It should be pretty easy to find.
