Body swap

Can you install a 67 swb body on to a 76 frame?

Re: Body swap

Sure! All it takes is time and some decent fab skills. You could put a fricken Porsche body on a '76 chevy frame-as long as you have a hefty supply of cut-off wheels, welding wire and flap discs.
Now is swapping a '67 body onto a '76 frame a bolt-on affair.....not at all.

Re: Body swap

if it's a 2 wheel drive, then I'm gonna say no.
You'd need a body lift on the cab to get it high enough to line up to the bed.
I guess you could do it, but it'd look stupid.
That would be after fabbing up alll kinds of body mounts and relocating the rear axle, and all kinds of other things.

Re: Body swap

Yes, it will fit - but you will end up with a truck that looks like its had a body lift.

You'll need to re mount the rear cab mounts, modify the front ones, and you'll end up with a larger than normal gap between the cab & bed, and you'll need to trim the frame horns so the bumper looks right.

Follow the link in my signature & you'll see a big purple 4wd we did - it has no body or frame lift - it's a 72 on a 77 4wd frame.

Look up a build thread for propanemudtruck, he is doing one right now.
