Question Bellhousing Choke Ring ??

I have a 82 shortbed that I just purchased a Keisler T45RS for... they told me about the McLeod choke ring I would need to purchase because of the bearing retainer size differences in the truck bellhousing... I have purchased that, but now trying to find information on how it should be installed... and I am not having any luck... so with all the knowledge here maybe someone knows for sure which way it should go on!! If it goes on through the pressure plate side of the bellhousing there would be no issue, BUT, it also could slip out.. and that would be bad. If it goes on through the tranny side, it couldn't come out, but then I also have the flange to deal with on the choke ring... it won't let the bellhousing and tranny come completely together. Is my only option to notch the tranny side of the bellhousing so the flange on the choke ring sits flush with back of the bell??

Thanks in advance for any information or confirmation you can give me

Re: Bellhousing Choke Ring ??

Got any pics? It would only make sense for it to be sandwiched between the tranny and bell. Is the new trans register too small? Jay

Re: Bellhousing Choke Ring ??

I will get some pics of the choke ring I have. and yes, the new trans has a bearing retainer the same size as a Muncie Trans for a car... I have a Truck bellhousing to I have to use this Choke Ring to decrease the size of the bellhousing opening. I don't have any pics of it at the moment, but will get them posted tonight.
