Switch questions

Is a toggle switch that will fill and dump one bag called a DPDT? How many prongs does it have?

Suicide doors have switches that have 3, 6, and 12 prongs. What do each of those do?

I'm seeing SPDT ON/OFF/ON momentary switches on ebay. So I'm confused as to what type of switch will fill and dump a single bag.

I'm leaning towards five switches: fill and dump for each corner and one switch to fill/dump all four at once.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Switch questions

You need 4 of a SPDT (3 prongs) and 1 of a 4PDT ( 12 prongs) switches, each pole represents one corner the center prongs are all power and the outer prongs go to the valves one side to the fill and the other to the dumps

Re: Switch questions

Can't you just run it with 1 switch for the front and 1 switch for the back? Then a manual on/off switch for the compressor?

Re: Switch questions

Ok, so a DPDT would be 6 prongs and would control two bags at once like if I wanted to dump/fill the front or rear?

I would actually prefer this but what happens if one corner need more air than another?

Re: Switch questions

Correct DPDT would have 6 prongs and would act similar to controling the front or rear with 1 SPDT (3 prongs) toggle but would still leave both sides electrically isolated when the switch isn't actuated.

Re: Switch questions

ok here goes and the could get complicatied but I'll try to make sence

DP/DT= double pole/double throw....this means that its acually 2 switches in one and it will work in the up and down postion (the center is your power the top and botom have power whne the switch is hit) heres the goofy part when the switch is in the up postion it feeds power from the middle to the BOTTOM of the switch and vise versa..(6 connectors)

SP/DT= Single pole Double throw...single pole is just one switch with the same Double throw ( 3 connectors)

ok part 3:

yes you can run 2 DP/DT switchs to your bags ( one DP/DT for the front and one for the rear) BUT if the ruck is loaded heavy to one side it wont lift even...my truck is set up like this BUT I also have 5 switchs in my glove box 1 shuts off the compressor the other four are SP/DT which allows me to tune if needed....I havn't had o use them YET but its an option I added and the wiring can be kinda confusing if your new to it...

One thing I found by accedent is that if you use the flat four trailer wire it works very well to wire up your valves...use one flat four for the front valves and one for the rear valves...it makes it easy to wire easy to trace the wires and getting them tucked away is easy also

hope that helps

Re: Switch questions

If you want 5 switches, why not get one of these?

I thought about that but I would think it would be annoying to have to hold it.

Re: Switch questions

I thought the same thing, but I bought one anyway. My truck isn't road-ready yet, so it may be a pain, but it's only temporary until I can afford the AccuAir set-up that I want.
