Stupid steering box....
Any one ever had to replace the input seal in a power box? Can it be done in the vehicle? Or would I be better off yanking the old box and getting a reman?
The box on my truck started spewing fluid from the steering shaft input today so bad I need to redo the front brakes. |

Re: Stupid steering box....
I pulled the box from my truck and replaced the input and pitman arm shaft seals in about an hour. Was not hard at all and it was alot cheaper then buying a new box.

Thats where I ordered my seals from. I would try and get a spanner wrench to take the nut off of the top of the box where the input shaft is. I didn't have one so I just made one. You could do it without one though. |

Re: Stupid steering box....
I have the exact same problem! Right where the steering shaft connects to the box it piss*s fluid! Ive went through a bottle of Stop leak and half way though one now and it seams to be slowing....
So its easier just getting the seal? Matt
