86 k/30 c & c
Picked up an ex firetruck GSA K31003 K30, 6.2, 4:56s, 4 speed, Dana 60, NP205, etc dually, 28K original miles, NO RUST. Check out the dual exhaust in the back of this so they could clear PTOs, driveshafts, etc. Came minus the firetruck body and minus brakes!

Appears to be a heat exchanger. Probably a hydraulic fluid cooler of some kind. Cool truck.

Re: 86 k/30 c & c
Finally got around to making her run. Needed extra fire truck apparatus wiring removal, (never seen so much wiring crap under the hood and dash)
batteries wired correctly, grounds cleaned, new glow plugs and controller. Has good clutch, probably first time its run in 4 years, started right up, runs like a champ and moves under its own power. Now all we need is a dump body for it.

Re: 86 k/30 c & c
Just picked up a 76 K30 c&c yesterday. 2wd though. Still equipped with all the goodies. And only 9400 miles.

You guys have some nice workhorses there! Both of you being from the "rust belt", I WISH my truck was as clean as those. Look at that damn frame on your truck.... looks like it came off the show room floor! I'm currently working with swiss cheese.

Nice truck! You have a C30 though, K30 makes it a 4x4.

Re: 86 k/30 c & c
You drill a hole all the way through your pillar. The spotlights have keepers at either end that are adjustable so the light will fit a variety of different ways. It's a simple design, been used for decades.
We do collision repair on emergency vehicles every so often, and always cringe when we have to mess with a spot light or light bar. Not so bad just removing it and putting it back in the same panel, but when you replace a panel and have to drill it and install it, it's a PITA. |
