1500 vs 2500
I am in the market for a new truck. Just cant decied beteen the 1500 and 2500. Right now I have a 2000 1500 Z-71, and love the truck. I tow a 22' boat and car trailer. So i was thinking the 2500 but the gas milage is what may kill me. I just dont know wht to do.

Re: 1500 vs 2500
The saying goes "If you need a truck get a 1 ton, If you have a use for a truck get a 3/4 ton, If you want to haul groceries get a 1/2 ton"
A 3/4 ton whould have better braking, GVW rating, The full floating rearend is a plus. This my OPINION. |

Re: 1500 vs 2500
I just went through the same thing considering a 1/2 ton over a 3/4 ton..... I'm towing a 27 foot camper.
This is what it boiled down to for me. By the time I got The 1/2 ton LT model with the tow package and the integrated trailer brake with the Z71 offroad package and the right gears and same trim package, I was less than 1700.00 from the 3/4 ton......... The 2500 has the bigger engine, tow package, suspension, braking, same trim.......... It was a no brainer in the end. GET THE 2500HD if you are towing. GET the 1500 if you are not. Sure, you will lose a few MPG's under daily driving, but for the small price difference and bigger sense of security when towing it was a better deal for me. Re: 1500 vs 2500
It also makes a difference how often you are towing -
Are you towing every weekend? Hundreds of miles? Get the 3/4 ton. Are you towing one weekend a year? Just a few miles? Get the 1/2 ton. K

Re: 1500 vs 2500
I got the 1500. I tow my boat almost every weekend. The tow rating on the truck is 9200 lb. The 2500 they had on the lot would tow 12,300. But for 9 K more I decided to ge the 1500.
