Truck wont stay running help!!!!

Well its been like 2 or 3 weeks since i started my c10 truck up,so i went to the gas station to get some gas to start it up. I poured the gas in and the truck started right up.I left it on for like 10 mins than got ready to drive it, but I had to moved my other truck out the way and as i was heading back after moving the other truck my c10 died. I get in it and try to start it up again it would start, but once i let the gas go it wound die. It would only stay on for like 3-5 seconds. I can keep the gas pedel down to keep it on but once i let it go it would just cut off. Any help where should i start?
86 small block 350

thanks!

you might have picked up some trash in your fuel filter that could be clogged

Re: Truck wont stay running help!!!!

Ok i tried a new fuel filter and nothing doing the same thing what else could it be could my carb be bad? Its a edelbrock 1406 its about 5 or 6 years old has been rebuilt like 8 months ago but to tell you the truth i never got to try it out on a running motor. This is the first time on a engine since rebuilt it does smell like gas under the hood?
