Relocating leaf springs

I was thinking of moving the springs to the inside of the frame and widening the wheel wells on my 1963 GMC. Has anyone done this? Is there a kit that makes it easier and cleaner or will I have to fabricate my own parts?

Re: Relocating leaf springs

I have seen it done on a 73-87 frame. No idea on your style frame.

Re: Relocating leaf springs

I haven't seen a kit to do this. Does it look like the spring hangers could be swapped to the opposite sides?

Re: Relocating leaf springs

The frame is a channel so to swap sides the frame would need to be boxed so the spring would clear the lip and have something for the bracket to mount to.

Re: Relocating leaf springs

I have seen this on a 63 or 64, the rails were boxed, and the factory hangers were bolted the boxing plates.
