Radiator shroud/mounting?

So I replaced my ratty old radiator that came stock with the 250 six cylinder engine, which was 27 inches between the rubber mounts with a new 3 row radiator that is 29 inches between the rubber mounts. The problem is, I gotta have a new shroud and top plate to suit the bigger, better radiator. Anyone know where I can score such things? Thanks!

Junk Yard.

I went through the same thing when the 250 to 454 swap took place. Mine came out of a 78 with a 350, worked like a charm.

Small world.......NNS&DDCo 81-86 (E-14), NNPD 75-81. I sent the company President a Thank You card when I was laid off 11/86. Ended up at UPS and never looked back.

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

I lived in Ivy Farms on Sunnywood Road for a few years. Then I moved to Tabb, then to Seaford. Then back to Tabb. Then I got smart and got out. I worked in E06, then E25, then E52, then Esomething-else for carrier piping. By then I was so disgusted I coulda just as easily ate a bullet as go to work.

LOL. We were practically neighbors. I'm just off Harpersville and can see the Farmer's Mkt from my house.

Shipyard, hated it! Of all the 1250 folks that were laid off that day in 86, I was the only one doing fist pumps and screaming YES!!. LOL.

Don't know if you've been back since 97 but this place has really changed since then.

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

I've heard it has really grown up. Did they ever do the change to the highway or whatever that was supposed to hook into Harpersville Road? As I recall it was gonna wipe out some houses if it went through. My ex sister in law and husband usedto live in that neighborhood just behind the Farmers Market. He put up a big workshop behind his house. Used to spend quite a bit of time there. I drove a 73 long bed fleet side back then. Blue and white 2 tone, nasty little 283 automatic. Also had a gray primer 63 panel truck with a 350 and a Muncie 21 4 speed back then. It was pretty nice till I got t-boned by some knucklehead in a Fiero. They dragged that Fiero away on a rollback. I drove away. Hurt, but not dead.

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

Do a Google map for your old address, check out the satellite view over towards the market. Amazing.

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

So anyway, back to the radiator shroud question. I wanna buy a new radiator top plate and a radiator shroud for my clunker. I have seen them on LMC Truck and cartruckshop.com. I already tried ordering mounts from LMC Truck once, and it appears I asked for the wrong thing. What was in the truck was quite clearly some jackleg job that didn't belong there. Can anyone poit me to the right part numbers? Top Plate and shroud. Thanks!

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

I have given up on junkyards in southern AZ for any square body parts - all stripped already or complete trash. I would suggest online search, like this one:
http://www.car-stuff.com/store/?N=98...588+11921+9204
I would call the supplier and ask questions before your buy.
Probably Chinese parts, but it seems like everything is now.
You could also call local radiator shops to see if they have a supplier for radiator parts. People often mod their RV haulers or commercial trucks with larger radiators and need different shrouds and plates.

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

Try this part number.......... 78-843

Here............. http://www.classicparts.com/Radiator...ducts/1024/3/0

They have shrouds listed as well, not cheap but new stuff.

Re: Radiator shroud/mounting?

Thanks for the lead! I think whomever I order from, I'm gonna have to verify the distance between mounts is 29 inches and not 27.
