Posi front and rear?
Has anyone seen positraction for both the front and rear axles on the SPID? A friend is looking at a '68 short stepper 4X4 with this as an option - He can get the truck for $500, but the cab is shot. I am curious if this is standard on the four wheel drives, or is an option.

Re: Posi front and rear?
it is an option. There are a few trucks that have shown up this way, and if it still has the axles, I'd say it would be worth picking up even as parts.

Re: Posi front and rear?
IF the cab is shot, and the axle are original it's not worth it. A 68 should have close knuckle, drum brakes, which no one is going to want.
It is an option, most are just open diff.

Re: Posi front and rear?
Yeah, I forgot about the closed knuckle part, but shouldn't the front posi be worth something?

Re: Posi front and rear?
Are you sure that front is a factory option? I have never seen one

Re: Posi front and rear?
I'm looking at a 72 blazer with that on the spid sheet also 3.73 rear positive traction and front positive traction. Checked the front by spinning the drive shaft with hubs unlocked and held axle shaft ujoints one at a time and it is.Going to pop the front cover when i get it to see if its an eaton posi.Don't know where youd get parts to rebuild the front carrier if there speciffically for the fronts but am thinking mabe a rear scout, jeep or amc car dana 44 posi carrier may be a good donor for parts or was always wondering if the rear dana 44 carrier on some amc cars or scouts would fit the front end with no mods?

I'll try to get some - should have taken some yesterday - but I'm sure it had posi front and rear.

Re: Posi front and rear?
K5 Blazin also had a blazer with front Posi listed on the SPID. I think he had a picture of the SPID, so I believe they were out there, although fairly rare.

Re: Posi front and rear?
They are definitely out there. I have seen several pictures of SPIDs that list the front limited slip on this site over the years.

Re: Posi front and rear?
My 71 K20 Cheyenne has a 4.56 with locker in the back and posi in front. I've been into both and on the glovebox option sheet.

Re: Posi front and rear?
i bought a new bronco in '74, was ford posi in rear & dana trac lock in front. ford pickups had option also, although in a pickup it came w/ four dual front shocks. option dropped in broncos when they came out w/ disc brakes in 76. none of my chevys had it from factory, but they do now!
