Engine oil cooler

Guys, is there an engine oil cooler that I can get off a newer vehicle that I could use on my 62 C-10 with a 72 350? I'm still trying to get my truck to run at a lower temp. I am still running around 225 on the hot days, and I want it to run cooler, is this wish full thinking or is it possible with the oil cooler to accomplish this?
Thanks Derek

Re: Engine oil cooler

An oil cooler will not help with coolant (engine) temp readings.

A well functioning coolant system is the answer. What temp thermostat are you running?

Electric fan or pump mounted? etc......

Re: Engine oil cooler

I have a large capacity aluminum radiator, electric fan around 3500cfm, and have changed thermostats from 165,180, and 195, the 180 seems to be the best. I think that the AC that I installed might be having a factor on the cooling issue, but it just amazes me that I have a 97 Camaro with no grill for the air to go thru, and that thing runs nice and cool on the hottest days. I was thinking that an oil cooler would help with keeping the engine a little cooler.

Re: Engine oil cooler

Have you verified your temp gauge? Put a meat thermometer in the flowing coolant when hot.

90's one ton GM van

My 93 has a great factory cooler. Hoses connect under filter, think adapter would bolt on- (engine is a center bolt valve cover SBC).

Don't forget a tranny cooler if you have an auto- they can reduce the load on the radiator.
