I've got one side of the conversion roughed in. Still need to do some final adjustments, then take off the hinge and core support corner brace (where the bottom bracket is welded) and clean them up. Eventually I'll probably powder coat both.

I got the idea from a pic that somebody posted from a recent truck show (maybe Pigeon Forge??). As for physical benefits, I think the answer is none. However, it's different, and looks kind of cool. Struts cost me $30 for the pair at AutoZone and they have a lifetime warranty. They are for the rear hatch of a '94 Plymouth Laser.

This is the best shot I could get of the bottom bracked after I had it in the truck. It is welded to the bottom of the core-support corner brace.

Have you aired out the truck yet to see if the tire will eat the strut????? I do like the U.S.A. made thing though

Yeah, I'm all set there. When the hood is down the strut runs almost exactly horizontal and even with the drip rail part of the fender itself.

looks pretty cool, but won't it limit some access to the engine? It might be a bit of a pain when changing plugs and things like that.

For now. Of course, that doesn't take long to wear off... this is one of the TALLER trucks I've owned in my life
