Hood springs to struts
I've got one side of the conversion roughed in. Still need to do some final adjustments, then take off the hinge and core support corner brace (where the bottom bracket is welded) and clean them up. Eventually I'll probably powder coat both.
I got the idea from a pic that somebody posted from a recent truck show (maybe Pigeon Forge??). As for physical benefits, I think the answer is none. However, it's different, and looks kind of cool. Struts cost me $30 for the pair at AutoZone and they have a lifetime warranty. They are for the rear hatch of a '94 Plymouth Laser. Kenneth

This is the best shot I could get of the bottom bracked after I had it in the truck. It is welded to the bottom of the core-support corner brace.

looks pretty cool, but won't it limit some access to the engine? It might be a bit of a pain when changing plugs and things like that.
