help need good info on 3/4 ton disc conversion
need some help/info please, 3/4 ton disc conversion
I got a friend that we are going to convert his front suspension to discs, but he wants to do it on the cheap. it has the 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern, what donor vehicle do we need to keep the 8 on 6.5's and go to discs? 3/4 or 1 ton components? I am believing but am not sure that we can use the 73-87 1 ton control arms, spindles, rotors and calipers since they have the 8 on 6.5 pattern. Forgive me if this has been covered as my searches found only 1/2 ton conversions which i know well. Thanks in advance Spence

Rooster's 67,... this is on the board for sale right now. 89-91 'burbs are the old square body style like the 73-87 'burbs. Should work fine. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=304623

Re: help need good info on 3/4 ton disc conversion
lolife99 posted a smoking deal for ya Rooster's 67, although shipping from San Diego to Garland,Texas might kill the deal. If you want something closer PM forum member texassquarebodies and Tony will fix you up.

Re: help need good info on 3/4 ton disc conversion
Rooster,... the link I posted was 3/4 ton 8-lug stuff. You need all the front parts off of any 73-87 3/4 ton 2wd truck. Get the whole crossmember and steering stuff (Including P/S box and master cylinder purportioning valve and lines) and you should be good to go. You don't really need the crossmember itself,... but some people like to swap it all as a unit. You basically need from the a-arms out and all the associated parts. Like I said earlier,... The 2wd 3/4 ton Suburbans ('73-'87 or '88-'91) will work also.

lolife99 is correct. The ad he linked is for 3/4 ton parts. Again I suggest you contact forum member texassquarebodies. This man knows his 73-87's and has a huge lot full of them. You won't find a friendlier person that will be glad to tell you what you need.

Re: help need good info on 3/4 ton disc conversion
The arms are interchangeable. Sway bars will interchange as well.

The lowers need to be 3/4 ton lower control arms,... because the ball joint hole is a larger size.
