Billet wheel redo???
Back in the early 90's I was big into the mini truck scene and bought a set of Boyd "Posie II" billet wheels.Well the truck is long gone but the wheels have remained.My wife is wanting them on her jeep but they are very dingy,after all they are 20 years old now.So what will be the best way to get them back looking good w/o sending them to a polisher???? I was thinkin possibly a car buffer and some kinda compound/polish.Since I have gotten into the 4wd's real heavy it has been years since I have been worried about polishin wheels so I'm kinda out of the loop.

If they don't have clearcoat on them I would get California Customs oxider and purple polish. Best and easiest I have found to use.

Have you considered a (electric or air driven) die grinder, a four inch "Razor" buff, a tapered mandrel, and a small brick of polishing compound? (polishing compound can be purchased through Eastwood products, Sears, Harbor Freight, swap meets, or even many local truck stops) I purchased a set of rims a few years back and with a die grinder and the buffs, I cleaned all four rims up in an afternoon. The cost of the rims made th ework well worth it. The die grinder and three small buffs is all you need to restore the finsih, then go back and clean them with a good hand compound and sealer.

I use a product called Autosol. It's a German paste polish, that takes some workin, but it works very well. My rear rims are ten years old and match my new front wheels too a tee after I polished them. Convo-pro wheels are a PITA to polish! Good luck

I thought that Mother's power ball was a mess. My wheels are 15 years old, used to sit out all winter, and look better now than they did when they were new. Oh and I haven't bought any Mothers for the last 15 years.
