Fuel tank capacity??
So im trying to figure out just how bad of gas mileage im getting. I have a 69 K10 with original tank behind the seat. Anyone know the capacity of these? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mines a little over 20 gallons. There were smaller ones of about 16 gallons too.

Im thinkin a 16 gal sounds pretty close. I filled up today almost on 'E' and only got about 14 gals in it..Cheap to fill up but it dont last!!

I believe it is 20 gallons. That is the listed capacity of all the reproductions.

there were plenty of 16-ish gallon ones. No documentation of it, but there were plenty made.

The most I can remember ever putting in my 71 was about 18 gal.
You don't need to know your tank capacity to figure your MPG. 1. Fill it up until the pump cuts off or fill to where you see the fuel level. 2. Drive it and record the miles. 3. Fill it up at the same pump until it cuts off or fill anywhere to the same level. 4. Divide miles by gallons registered on the pump. If you have a GPS you can determine the percentage the speed is off and adjust the miles by that but these old speedometers are not accurate. I doubt anyone is still running the original size tires. |
